The One Health approach argues that human, animal, and environmental health are deeply connected, something the COVID-19 pandemic (more than 687 million cases and 6.8 million deaths worldwide) made impossible to ignore. UC Chile needed to explain this integrated approach, and why future epidemiological surveillance depends on it, to a general audience, not just specialists.
I researched and wrote an article connecting human, animal, and environmental health under the One Health approach, translating technical figures and concepts (like the 200-plus known zoonotic diseases) into clear language for a general audience, without losing the backing of academic sources.
